The team from William H Painter Funeral Directors in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, has been celebrating the opening of a newly renovated memorial garden.<\/p>\n

The funeral home was awarded \u00a310,000 of Lottery Funding last year to remodel the memorial garden at the St. Andrews Church site, which was officially opened at this year\u2019s Open Air Memorial Service.<\/p>\n

The remembrance service was led by the Vicar of St. Andrews, Reverend Mike Harmon, who was assisted by Reverend Helen Horan, Curate and Reader Shirley Turner.<\/p>\n

Singers and musicians from Bishop Wilson School performed a celebratory dance routine alongside a selection of songs from their most recent summer production.<\/p>\n

Funeral plan provider, Choice, donated an outdoor clock and barometer as the free raffle prize, which was presented by Councillor Alan Nash to the winner, Brian Makepace, a previous client of William H Painter.<\/p>\n

Each name from the 180 Memorial Plaques currently in the garden was read out in remembrance by Mike, Helen and Shirley.<\/p>\n

Funeral Arranger Michael Beck said: \u201cI am over the moon with how the garden looks. We still have some flowers to plant which were purchased with money donated by the Chelmsley Wood Parish Council, and this will be completed when the weather gets a little cooler.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe local Asda supermarket has adopted the memorial garden as their community project, which is great news. It is now a truly community area; being educational, a place of reflection as well as a place of remembrance for all people of Chelmsley Wood.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
